Project / Research Internship

Background

Breast cancer is a significantly effects the health and quality of life (QoL) of patients. Measurement of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) aims to
capture the perceived impact of the disease and its treatment on patients’ physical, emotional, and social health. HRQoL assessments are typically conducted using standardised population-specific patient-reported outcome measures (PROM) in paper-based or electronic formats. Objective patient-generated health data collected using sensors can complement these
subjective measurements.

We are currently implementing a mobile application to monitor quality of life and track side effects and symptoms of breast cancer patients.

Tasks

  • Extension of an existing mobile application to assess quality of life in patients with breast cancer
  • Design and implement a module for symptom monitoring within the existing application
  • Implement the integration of wearable activity tracking into the application (Connectivity, data visualization)

Requirements

  • Strong interest and knowledge in mobile app development (Ionic, NodeJS, SQL)
  • Good sense of design (if possible, please send some samples of your interface designs with your application)
  • Good German skills (the app is in German)
