ID 2451: Developing an Open-Source Platform for Gaze Research

This project aims to develop an open-source online platform in the domain of gaze and eye-tracking research. The platform will be hosted on GitBook/GitHub, enabling robust version control and collaboration. A key focus will be establishing interoperability standards. Additionally, the project will involve active collaboration with industry partners, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to ensure the platform’s relevance, accessibility, and adoption.

Requirements

  • Understanding of gaze/eye-tracking research and familiarity with data formats, algorithms, and analysis techniques in this field.
    • Ideally, you have taken the seminar “Catching Your Eyes: AI-driven modeling and analysis of eye-tracking data” by Dr. Dario Zanca.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
    • Ideally, you are familiar with data standardization concepts and online platform development.
  • Familiarity with GitLab for version control, issue tracking, and collaborative software development.
  • Communication skills (English).

Tasks

  • Design and implement the core components of the platform, including user-friendly interfaces for data submission, benchmarking, and standardization.
  • Develop a GitLab repository with thorough documentation to ensure open-source accessibility and encourage contributions from the community.
  • Document the development process, technical details, and interaction outcomes with stakeholders in a comprehensive report.
