InfektIQ

This project aims to develop a mobile app to assist infectious disease specialists at the University Hospital Erlangen in antimicrobial stewardship. With infectious diseases affecting up to 25% of hospital patients, managing these conditions effectively is crucial to patient health, minimizing resistance, and controlling healthcare costs. However, due to a limited number of specialists, non-specialist physicians often provide care, underscoring the need for support tools.

The app streamlines point prevalence analyses (PPA), a critical diagnostic approach specialists use to monitor and refine treatments. Currently, PPA is performed manually, which is time-intensive and limits its use. This app transforms PPA into a digital process, enabling efficient data recording, analysis, and presentation, which in turn reduces specialists’ workloads and enhances patient care while providing educational resources for non-specialists.

Supported by the University Hospital’s “TeamX Inkubator” program, our partners have created an MVP, but much development remains to make it a market-ready product. Our current focus includes identifying feature requirements for broad hospital adoption, integrating educational modules, and ensuring secure data storage that complies with healthcare regulations.

Our team is eager to work with technical and business experts to evolve this project into a scalable product, with the potential to benefit infectious disease care across Germany and Europe.
